For over 40 years, Eva Nagel has served as an educator, writer, learner, seeker, community leader and organizer. As a creative champion for young people and families and founder of numerous schools, organizations and community initiatives, Dr. Nagel has dedicated most of her life to creating opportunities for others to live more healthy, joyful, and meaningful lives.
Youth development, story and imagination, family, community healing and justice have been ongoing themes in her body of work. In 1980, she started Spring Hill School, now the Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs which is a successful K-12 school. Later she co-founded Side By Side, a youth leadership program in NY, PA and LA. Eva has worked internationally with foundations in Cambodia and Zimbabwe and, more recently, with the Trauma Research Institute in Rwanda, Kenya, Haiti and in the USA with the US Military and others. Today she continues as a psychotherapist in private practice with her husband, Lee, in upstate New York where they created and taught The Mastery Program. She holds a PhD from Lesley University and her essays have been published in books and magazines including The Psychotherapy Networker, Journal of Curative Education and Social Therapy, Principal Leadership and books including Get Satisfied, edited by Carol Holst.
Dr. Nagel shares most of this life with Lee, four well-grown children who occasionally drop in, five brilliant grandchildren, two cats and an ever changing variety of fascinating guests. She can often be found out weeding between the cabbage and the kale or painting in her studio.
